Who’d have thought that I’ll be fired after three months at the advertising company?
Yes, I’m back on blogging, sorry it took me so long. Truth is, nothing too exciting has happened during those couple of months until last week when the boss called me to his office and said that due to shortage of communication and lack of chemistry, he decided to look for a replacement and that I could stay until the end of the month – meaning last February.
Upset? no, I’m not upset. I admit that I’ve shed a few tears in front of him when he told me and later that day, when I got home, I let it all out. but after that day, I just took myself together and started looking for a job. Again.
Last Sunday – or was it Monday? – I’ve watched the Dr. Phil show about smoochers (I know I spelled it wrong), the topic of the show doesn’t really matter to my point here which is something he said to one of his guests. he said “if you don’t have a full time job, you need to work full time from 9-5 to find a job”. And that line keeps looping in my head over and over since then.
the minute after the show was over, which was around 9am, I went to the computer and got on-line to several classifieds websites and started sending my CV to everywhere. and every 30 minutes I’d refresh the page and check the new ads.
Same routine for Monday.
On Tuesday I’ve decided to email all productions companies and send them my CV. so I started working on my letter and sent it to a friend to check it out and tell me if it sounds good. five minutes later he asked me for my CV and three hours after that, my CV looked a whole lot better, and later on that day, I started to receive responses from some of the many productions companies I’ve sent it to.
Thanks, Mark! you’re the best!
so on Wednesday and Thursday, that’s what I did. I’ve spent half the day to send my CV to classified ads and half the day to send it to productions companies.
so far, I got three job interviews next week.
Until I get a job, well, I contacted a friend who’s an event manager for a big catering company in Tel Aviv area and asked him if he still needs help. he said yes and signed me to three events this month, which is better than nothing, right?
He pays much better than the other catering company I’ve worked for and it’s business events only, so it should be piece of cake after, well.. you know – and he’s a very cool dude.
Thanks for the chance, Uriel, you rock!!!
