OK… did it ever happen to you that you got yourself all set and pretty for a job interview, got lost on the way and when you finally got there, the interview went so fast and was over before you could say Jack Robinson?
It happen to me today. It wasn’t the first time either – don’t know if I ever told you about my trip to Eilat (southest city in Israel) for a job interview only to find out when I got there that they already hired couple of people a day before knowing I was coming the next day.
Ughh… just the memory of the whole situation upsets me…
Anyway, I had an interview today for the huge international sports event in hope I’ll join the production team.
Again, I woke up early because I had to drive mom to work so I’ll have the car and it’ll be easier for me to get there. The meeting was set to 10:30 and I woke up few minutes before 7am. I turned the water heater on, had a cup of coffee and on the way to the shower I woke mom up. After the shower I got dressed and grabbed all the makeup stuff I started to use this week and started the entire routine – Face cream, Eye cream, Concealer, Foundation cream, Blush, Lipstick, Eye Shadow and the Mascara.
It took me about 30 minutes.
Then mom decided she wanted to have another cup of coffee so I joined her and we left the house around 8:20. I dropped her at work and was back home few minutes before 9. I’ve checked my email, went through new wanted ads online and after calling the place to make sure I got the address right I went out and drove over according to the directions I got online.
I was heading the right direction when I’ve missed an Exit (it happens alot, I know) but I didn’t know I’ve missed it because I saw a different street name than the one I got online so I kept driving on the freeway looking at the street signs – don’t worry, I was paying attention to the road – But nothing.
And then I’ve decided that I’m fed up and turned left at some point – which got me even more lost. After driving around in circles I started asking people – you’d think cab drivers would know where the place’s at, but no, Somehow I winded up in another town. The last lady I’ve asked told me how to get back to the town I’m supposed to be at and after a few more turns I got back to the freeway but on the opposite direction and after a few minutes I’ve found the right turn and realised that I’ve missed it in the very beginning.
Had I not missed it, I would have gotten there in 25 minutes instead the 45 minutes – meaning I’ve spent 20 minutes driving in damn circles!!!
OK. I’m calming down…
After finding the street, I got to the place in no time and found the office pretty fast and was there 15 minutes ahead of time which is always good.
After 5 minutes the producer of the entire event came to speak with me.
…
Let me remind you that the shower, getting dressed and putting on make up took me in total 45 minutes. Driving there took me 45 minutes.
…
5 minutes. No, I’m sorry, 10. 10 minutes.
The entire conversation, the one I’ve spent almost 2 hrs to get ready and get there, took 10 minutes!
Not only that, He said they’ll call me over AGAIN after Passover.
What’s wrong with you people??? Just because I’m unemployed doesn’t mean my time isn’t precious either!!!!
I mean, geez! they could have spared it all by a simple phone-call explaining about the event and tell me that if it interests me they’ll add my name and details for the list of interviews that will take place after the holidays, but nooooooooo, they had to bring me all this way to hear that.
After I got home, I got a phone-call from one of the temp jobs I’ve applied to and the lady asked me if it’s still relevant and I said yeah. So, I’m supposed to get to the office on Sunday so they’ll see me in person and I should start on Tuesday.
So things are starting – very slowly but still it’s a start – to work out.
Tomorrow’s my 2nd shift at the catering gig and I’ve found a ride so I don’t need mom’s car which is good.
I’ll come back during the weekend, Probably on Saturday, so till then I wish you goodbye.
And as if I need to remind you, Don’t forget to get swooped!
